Size comparison of Leica M6 and Leica II D

  • Notice how small the IId is with Collapsible Elmar. It is so small in comparison, that it can be easily placed in your front pocket, unlike the M6.  A true Point & Shoot and personally one of my favorites.  The IId is also of special attention to collectors because it is the first Leica camera ever made with a coupled rangefinder. Built on a Leica III chassis.  Same Specifications as leica IId.  Slow speed dial hole in body is covered by a metal disk with three screws.

3) Leica IIIc

Leica IIIf No 729739 1954 Rare Canada version

  • The IIIc had a very long production run and was a very popular camera. It is still a fine shooter and of interest to collectors for its many variations.

  • The IIIc Military models were made in numerous variations for different branches of the military. Sadly many of these cameras have been defaced because they had special markings from Nazi Germany, therefore only a small number exist with markings such as 'HEER' 'Luftwaffe Eingentum' or 'K' after the serial #. Military cameras were also made for other coutries that had their specific engravings.

4) Leica IIIg

  • The IIIg is considered to be the finest screw mount Leica ever made. Built during the pinnacle of Leitz craftmanship (same time as the M3), the IIIg had many features that were found on the 'M' model cameras. Build quailty and feature set specification make this a favorite among collectors and shooters alike. The IIIg is easily discernable from other screw mount Leicas by the 4 windows instead of 3 on the front of the camera.

  • IIIg Canada: 1797 Cameras were built in Canada. A small number compared to the 41,589 cameras produced.
